World Humanitarian Day is 19 August each year since 2003, when 22 aid workers were killed during the bombing of the United Nations Headquarters in Baghdad. It is a day to commemorate all the aid workers who have been killed providing service and to celebrate the spirit of humanitarian service the world over. This documentary film is about how to increase safety and prevent the killing of aid workers as this space continues to shrink due to threats, wars and terrorism.

Setting a baseline for humanitarian effectiveness and to encourage improvements to the delivery of aid is the purpose of this documentary film. The first World Humanitarian Summit will be held in early 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey to set a forward-looking agenda for humanitarian action to collectively address future humanitarian challenges. The aim is to use the film to measure the succes or failure of building a more inclusive and diverse humanitarian system committed to humanitarian principles.
